Subscriber options
From Ship-level up, you can put a paywall on your outlet. You keep the readers and set the price. Configure early access for paying subscribers, delayed public release, or free public — your call.
- You own the audience — FM does not take your subscribers.
- Platform fee — only on paid subscriber revenue: 10–15% (founding: 10%). Listed under Add-ons.
- Modes — early access · delayed free · fully free public. Mix per story if you want.
- How readers pay (we never touch their card) — readers pay you in crypto (same two options: send from a wallet, or buy on a partner site and paste your wallet address). You pass the platform fee to FM; confirmation belongs in the partner portal (free account → paid when we match your payment).

How partners pay
We’re never the company that charges your card. Honest journalism and the free movement of money don’t survive frozen accounts and payment-processor politics — so we settle in crypto instead. Card users can still buy crypto on an external site first; we only ever receive to a wallet.
- Option A (default) — Pay crypto directly to our wallet. Dollar-pegged stablecoins (USDC / USDS — “digital dollars”); the same wallet address works on each network we support — we’ll name the network on the invoice. We never ask you for ID. Bitcoin comes next.
- Option B (optional) — Card or pay-app on an external site (e.g. ChangeNOW): you buy crypto there and paste our wallet address. That provider may ask you for ID; FM never handles your card.
No PayPal or Stripe merchant accounts. Buy guide: factualmedia.news/pay. Accounts start free; we upgrade you to a paid plan when payment is confirmed in the partner portal (interim confirm on /pay while we build it).
Drafts, images, and Settings
The desk can gather from sources you configure. If a source already posted a photo, we use that URL and credit them. If there isn’t one, we can generate an illustration — labelled as illustration, never as a photograph of the event. A human still publishes.
On Ship, Pro, and Whitelabel, Settings let you turn gather, rewrite, and images on or off, and use Factual Media’s included AI or your own API key. Caps apply. The evidence bar does not switch off. Auto-publish stays off unless you turn it on.
How screening works
- You submit — portal or desk handoff.
- AI screens for spam, affiliates, mismatches, and obvious red flags.
- Pass, flag, or deny — human staff resolve flags; you can revise and resubmit.
Billing & refunds
- Pilot — free; nothing to refund.
- Setup deposit — 10% of the setup fee is due at initiation and is non-refundable (holds the slot through intake).
- Before setup implementation — the remaining setup fee, and any first month bundled with it, is fully refundable minus payment-processor fees. “Started” means actual implementation (domain, feeds, branding, config) — not a kickoff chat alone.
- After setup implementation begins — setup is non-refundable.
- Monthly subscription — no refund for the current period once it has started; cancel anytime for the next period.
- Rejected posts — not billed.

- Is this pay-to-play on editorial surfaces?
- No. Editorial placement is never sold. Syndication is your screened outlet only.
- Are rejected posts billed?
- No. Only approved publishes count against quota or overage.
- Is this one category — blockchain-only?
- No. Factual Media is publishing infrastructure for any beat. You bring the category — town news, sports, science, markets, culture, and the rest. Same bar for everyone.
- Can we use our own AI key?
- On Ship, Pro, and Whitelabel, Settings let you use FM’s included AI or bring your own compatible key. Caps and the evidence bar still apply. Auto-publish stays off unless you turn it on. See Drafts, images, and Settings.
- Do you write and staff our outlet?
- On managed tiers, yes — FM runs the working desk for your brand. On Whitelabel, no: you hire your own Owner, Chief, editors, and journalists; we license the platform. Details on How it works.
- Does Whitelabel include FM journalists?
- No by default. You stand up your own newsroom. Optional setup and ops help by agreement — not payroll substitution unless separately contracted.
- Do you have affiliate codes or sales-agent commissions?
- Yes — see Affiliates & sales agents. Codes never buy editorial placement.
- Do you take my subscribers?
- No. You set pricing and keep the relationship. FM takes an agreed platform fee on paid subscriber revenue only (10–15%; founding 10%). See Subscriber options.
- How do I pay for a package?
- Default: send crypto to our wallet address (the network is named on the invoice). Optional: buy crypto on an external site and send it there. We’re not a Stripe/PayPal merchant. See How partners pay.
- What’s the refund policy?
- Pilot is free. Setup takes a 10% non-refundable deposit at initiation; the rest (and any bundled first month) is refundable until setup implementation starts, minus processor fees. Monthly fees aren’t refunded mid-period. See Billing & refunds.
